Trees and Me

What do children have in common with trees except that they both grow? Well the growing children went on a field trip to visit the grown, tall trees at Botanic Gardens.

They saw a unique wood carving piece with images of fish, octopus, komodo dragon and other creatures. They were introduced to the "kapok" tree and had a feel of the "kapok" which is actually cotton.

Even though bananas are common, the children got to see the flower from the banana tree.

The children definitely have not seen a double coconut tree and the huge double coconuts. They saw it at the Botanics.

Do you know that there is a coke tree where the leaves are one of the ingredients in Coca Cola drinks?

The "tembusu" tree, which appears in our $5 note, is the centre piece of the Botanics. The kids had a great time doing tree bark rubbing using paper and crayons.
They had a fantastic time in their outdoor classroom.
