Remember the good ol’ nursery rhyme, “Twinkle, Twinkle, Little Stars?” It seems like everyone who has gone to kindergarten would have learned it. It is like part and parcel of the kindergarten syllabus. Well, whenever I think of little children, kindergarten children, I think of this evergreen nursery rhyme and vice versa.
I’ve been with children since I graduated from university. I find them refreshing. The way they speak and the way they think is very original. The very young children, especially, do not put up a front like adults do. In fact, they can’t because of their naïve nature. Have you watched them playing hide-and-seek? They hide but before the seeker could find them, they come out of their hiding. It is just not in the nature of little children to hide things from others. To me they are like the twinkling stars in the sky, shining their little light.
The first batch of 5-year olds I taught way back in the 90’s are now about 19 years old. I now need to look up when talking to them when back then I had to squat in order to look them in the eye. Nevertheless, I am still their teacher, Miss Thio.
I shall stop reminiscing (for now) and invite the alumni of Chen Li Kindergarten to join in the party as you are one of the twinkle stars of the kindergarten.
Yes Miss Thio you have to look up when talking to me now! Haha :D
