The bonding between teachers and pupils is crucial, if we want the pupils to love going to school. How many times have we heard children or even adults say, “I hate Math or Geography or Literature because I don’t like Mr or Mrs or Ms so and so?” Pupils usually associate their likes or dislikes for the subject with the teacher who teaches it.
On Teachers’ Day we see the reconnecting of broken ties, if there are any ties broken. All the unpleasantries in the classroom are forgotten. Children bring gifts to express their appreciation to their teachers. They hug and shake hands with their teachers and say, “Thank You.” Teachers, on the other hand, felt appreciated and acknowledged.
At Chen Li Kindergarten in celebrating Teachers’ Day, they played a game where the pupils (blindfolded) feed their teachers ice cream. It was great fun for both pupils and teachers.
Wishing all teachers, young and old, a great Teachers’ Day!
